Pregnancy Health Care in Sydney by Belinda Kirkpatrick

Pregnancy is an exciting time where nutrient demands are very high. Lack of vital nutrients in our soil plus food supply, has forced pregnant women to intake nutritional supplementation to some extent. Many of the common conditions in pregnancy are signs of specific nutritional deficiencies and can be easily remedied with supplemental support. Belinda will assess your diet and current nutritional status and prescribe the appropriate supplementation specific to your needs.

You may feel you have a healthy, balanced diet, however, the high nutritional demands of pregnancy, the outcome of morning sickness, constipation, stress, enduring deficiencies, undiagnosed allergies, heartburn or any other kind of pre-existing conditions is just a clear picture that you lack essential nutrients that you need both for yourself and your growing baby.

As an example, studies have shown that about half of all pregnant women in NSW are iodine deficient. Iodine is essential for your baby’s thyroid hormone and nervous system development. A simple test can determine if you are one of these women and Belinda will provide you with advice about how to remedy this deficiency. Many other specific deficiencies are also often found. Make sure that you don’t self-medicate during your pregnancy period. Labour preparation for the birthing process begins at around 34 weeks. Belinda will prescribe for you an individual mix of herbal teas and liquid herbs which are designed to:
  • tone the uterus and prepare it for labour
  • increase blood flow and oxygen delivery to the reproductive tract
  • initiate labour at 40 weeks
  • encourage regular and effective uterine contractions
  • minimise tearing and blood loss
  • calm and relax the mother
